I love cooking and baking! I make all of our meals from scratch 3 times a day, we try to live frugally so being inventive with good seasonal ingredients is a passion! I have been growing veg for about the last year now and it's so good to go from the garden to the plate! I like to cook for friends. I don't like it when people assume vegetarian food is dull. I don't eat meat but I still eat fish.
My favourite cookbooks are Margaritte Pattern's 500 recipes for families, A Wholefood Cooking book and my mums old Be-Ro book.
I don't eat meat and am comsidering giving up fish BUT I do adore scallops and King prawns. Fortunately they are a rare treat. Chilli, ginger and garlic are my holy trinity of foods. Anyone remember peach melba ice-cream? I love it but havent seen it anywhere for years. My favourite dinners of all time were:
1.Our wedding feast! A Greek meze starter of feta, Gavros, zucchini balls, salad, cheese pies, calamari, tzatziki followed by roast suckling pig (for the carnivores), stuffed peppers & tomatoes, and roasted potatoes.
2. ABC in Kuching with my Malaysian in-laws - fresh soft shell crab, jungle ferns, fish and gigantic prawns all washed down with fresh lime juice
3. Jade Buddah Temple, Shanghai. Absolutely the best vegetarian meal out I have ever had. Even meat-eating hubby loved it.
