My husband and I live on the Great Plains in the coldest state (feels like it) in the country. This year is a record breaker for snow and cold!
To cheer myself and you... above is one of my flower gardens, a part of one actually! I wish it was more clear! I'll have to work on my photography!
My husband and I farm. I have a love for gardening: flowers, veggies, fruits, berries and canning, jelly making, preserving, drying herbs, and cooking and baking! These are my passions and I also love shoes and linen! And silk, cotton, and yes cashmere! Currently getting into berets!
We have a golden retriever pup and she is the love of our lives! Our baby!
Her name is Maisy! Also, have nine kitties - Sarah, Sebastian, Midnight, Henry, Sam, Star, Garfield, Lilly, and Zeus!
Our area is rural and we have a 45 min. drive to the nearest city. I have learned to be very organized and frugal. This SF, CA transplant was used to the local farmer's market and handy Trader Jacks...It was quite a culture shock!
We are green and we recycle and are becoming way more conscientious of the environment.
Our children are all grown and out of the house. One is still in college. Miss them terribly!
I love life on the farm and feel very fortunate to have had so many wonderful experiences in life. Done a lot of traveling and feel satisfied. Although, I could do some more if I win the lottery!
My better half and I make our own wines. The elderberry is my favorite. We are going to try some blending when we bottle this time. Black currant with the grape!
We hunt, fish, raise chickens and turkeys and make delicious deer summer sausage.
This Christmas I sent jars of jellies to all the family and friends and also lots of Christmas cookies and local friends and family will get my Lefse and Rosettes! Yum!

All breads, all veggies, fruits and a good cup of coffee in the morning and a glass of homemade wine at 3pm! Breakfast is my favorite meal. I make my own bagels and they are scrumptious! I am venturing out and making crumpets, english muffins and matzo because I can't get the faves out here!
I am a rabid recipe collector and experimentor! I dabble in all realms of cooking if I can order online the stuff I need at a reasonable price.
DH is going to have to expand my kitchen. He has already put shelves in every place he can already!
I am into heirlooms...so I grow all that will grow here. I get more seed catalogs than you could ever imagine during the winter! I read them like juicy novels! Have to get those orders in early!
My Rose Finn Fingerlings are my favorite potato along with my Yukon Golds! The Fingerlings are delicious roasted with a little olive oil and rosemary sprinkled on top. The flavor is ecstasy!
Rhubarab bars and Rhubarb Cream Pie is to die for and Sour Cream Raisin Pie too...sigh........mmmmmmmmmm....
I hope if there is a place reserved in heaven for me when the time comes, there is a
top-notch oven with a fully-loaded kitchen with my name on it! ![]()
