about me

I love to collect & try new recipes and have been an avid cookbook collector for over 25 years (last count, over 300!..not to mention the tons of recipes I have cut out of cooking magazines/newspapers, etc.)! I grew up in the SE and wasn't really exposed to ethnic foods or anything too exciting until I lived in San Francisco in my mid-twenties. It was such an eating adventure ! I was also amazed at a friend there who could eat just about anything in a restaurant, nail all the ingredients, and go home and prepare it again without a recipe! That, along with a lot of girls' nights in where we took turns trying recipes and new wines, really sparked my interest in food and wine...I've been hooked ever since! So while most people read the morning paper, I always seem to end up reading recipes with my morning coffee!!! Since I discovered Zaar, it seems that most of them come from this great website.

Like many other members here, we love to travel and I try to find a cookbook unique to each place we visit so I can recreate the meals (and memories) at home.

I am a transplanted Southerner still getting used to the winters in MI. Married to the love of my life, Mom of twin girls as well as two grown stepchildren. I'm happily retired for about 6 years now after 23 years in the IT industry so I finally have time to try all the recipes I've been saving over the years, balanced with lots of exercise to keep it healthy. Life is good!

Favorite Foods:

Coffee, potatoes, basil, garlic, shallots, anything spicy, shellfish, fresh fruit, coconut, wild mushrooms, risotto, roasted beets, goat cheese, red wine and chocolate. And an occasional dirty martini.
