about me

I'm a Homemaker/ Home Schooler/ Violist. Born and raised in Atlantic Canada, now settled on the Prairies. How did we end up so far from the ocean?!!!

My mother and maternal grandmother are both excellent cooks and I've inherited their love of cooking and baking. I like trying new things, from a simple comforting dish to a more elaborate meal.

I've never owned a mixmaster. I do most everything by hand, a great way to relieve stress!

A word about my rating system-

For me a 5 star recipe is one that left me still raving about it long afterward. A 4 star recipe is thoroughly enjoyed and gets placed into my regular rotation. I leave a review for 3 star recipes because they were good and I want to have a record of making them in case I wish to make them again, but they don't get printed into my recipe book.

I don't feel inclined to leave 1 or 2 star reviews. I may leave comments without stars to be helpful if there is a problem with a recipe, but up to this point I have just moved on from recipes that haven't worked out. Sometimes it's just a matter of personal taste.

I often take macaroni and cheese (see Bev's Macaroni and Cheese)or a chocolate cake (see Dark Chocolate Cake) with rainbow sprinkles to a potluck- the kids devour it!
