about me

I live in Las Vegas, Nv. and I am passionate about cooking. My father was a chef and taught me a lot about cooking from a young age. I worked as a cashier at Bally's Hotel and Casino, here in Las Vegas for 15 years. I got to see many celebrities .To name a few, Gladys Knight, Frank Sinatra, Dennis Quaid, Michael Caine, Clyde Drexler, and Liza Minelli. My father raised me from 1 year of age. He didn't bake, therefore I never learned. This past year, I have sorta kinda taught myself(with a lot of help from many of Zaar's Stars) some of the basics of baking ." We don't have any children, except for my 4-legged furry feline alarm clock one named Martini. We adopted her at PetCo. 4 years ago. She had been very abused, and now after 4 years, she is still very skittish. She finally purred after 4 years with me, and either knew
how and being so abused, put that part of her away or she just learned how. Either way, I'm so pleased. My husband, Tom is retired from the gaming business after putting in 30 years.
I don't have a favorite cookbook, just parts of this one and parts of that one. I have over 500 cookbooks, some dating back to 1929. I can spend a whole afternoon browsing my cookbooks, and I always find so many neat recipes that I hadn't found the last time around.

Favorite Foods:

My favorite things to cook/bake: Lasagna, actually anything Italian, including risotto which I love. We love Italian food, then Mexican, then Chinese. We rarely eat out because we actually like our own food better. I don't mean it's better than anyone elses, it's just that we cook to our tastes. I love to bake cheesecakes, my hubby loves to eat them, which is great because I hate waste. As for my favorite cookbook, here goes! Years ago, (probably about 25)I was in a place called PicNsave, where things were really cheap. I found some small individual cookbooks by McCalls. There was one for fish, desserts, Italian, and on and on. I seem so remember that they were 39¢ apiece! Well, I used the Italian one so much, it's nearly worn out. I still keep it for sentimental reasons.

I love to get email and "meet" the great people who make up the "Zaar!

Our favorite restaurants are Bucca de Peppo for Italian, Viva Mercado for Mexican, and Bamboo Garden for Chinese.

Some of my peeves are actually not peeves, but things I dislike to do in recipes.
1. using "cream of" any kind of soup in a recipe.
2. using those little pellet-like things they call sausage on pizza's.
Real peeves: crulety to animals and children.
Food dislikes:black olives, raisins, frozen green beans, raw fish, wild game and organ meats, plain yogurt, and buttermilk (to drink).
