Buttermilk Biscuits

This recipe came from Great American Home Baking. When I'm craving fresh bread and don't have a lot of ingredients, I'll whip these up. I rarely have buttermilk in the house, but in place of buttermilk, just add a splash of vinegar to some milk.

SERVES 6 -8 (change servings and units)

    Preheat oven to 425.

    Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.

    Cut butter into flour until coarse crumbs form.
  4. 4
    Add buttermilk and toss until dough forms.

    Turn onto lightly floured surface and gather into a disk.
  6. 6
    Knead lightly a few times just until smooth. Pat into 3/4" thick and cut with biscuit cutter.

    Place biscuits 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden.
